Thu 8th Oct at 8pm - Pete Coe - Totnes Folk Song Club, Dartmouth Inn, Totnes

(in upstairs function room). Contact Anne Gill 01803 290427 or Andy Clarke 01803 732312.

"A one man folk festival" says the BBC, with songs, tunes - and stepdances too - from his native Cheshire to the Appalachian mountains. Long time Friends of American Old Time Music and Dance member, Pete has been one of our top folk-music professionals since 1971, playing clubs, concerts and festivals, recording and broadcasting on TV and the wireless here and around the world. His powerful, distinctive singing, backed by bouzouki, mountain dulcimer, 5-string banjo, melodeon and feet will guarantee you a great, participatory evening.  (and a long time FOAOTMAD member too)

Coming up- the launch of the first ever Milton Keynes One World Club on Monday 14th September at Cruck Barn, Milton Keynes Discovery Centre, Bradwell Abbey, Milton Keynes. This will subsequently run on the first Monday evening of the month from 2nd November onwards. It's a FREE event which welcomes anybody and everybody, whatever their culture, ethnic origin, age, performance style etc. to come and perform or to sit back and enjoy the performance of others. The line-up for 14th September includes Indian drummers, Bollywood dancers, poets, folk  & country singers, young performers of modern music styles as well 60s pop and rock!

There will hopefully be "open-mic" time too at every club night for people to get up and perform on the night if they wish (sorry, there are no 'open mic' slots left for the Sep. 14 show, they've all been booked in advance!)

Doors open at 6.30 p.m., performances begin at 7.30 p.m. Drinks will be available at the bar; no food will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. Please get your drinks at the bar, as the venue is relying on drinks sales to enable it to be free of charge, which in turn, means free entrance for all!

September 14th features The Rhythm Blasters featuring Punjab Diye; The Metcalfe Family (Old Time, country); Natasha Silver (Blues and self-penned songs); Rachel and Sabina (Bollywood dancers); Alex Beinz (modern); Craig Barlow with son, Joe (rock & pop); Theresa Kelleher (blues); Melinder Walker with Dave Pelling (modern folk); Mark Neil (Poet); Trosky (R & B and hip life); Helen Drechoff (Folkie, Indie); Colin Rushton (poet); Lewis Berthwick (Indie Rock)
