6th December 2007

I'm pleased to repeat the 'stop press' item from last week to the effect that the cornish Bluegrass Festival WILL be happening next September after all.

***************************************

The Gainsborough Festival approaches! Publicity and booking forms will come with the next issue of the Old Time News for FOAOTMAD members. For those of you who aren't members (and members who want to make a head start on their planning) there will be a poster/flyer/booking form available on our web site www.foaotmad.org.uk - BUT IT'S NOT THERE YET and is unlikely to be for a week or two.

I will let you know as soon as it is available - please don't pester me or webmaster John in your enthusiasm.

What I can say is the line-up is led by Piney Woods, a band featuring Kate Lissauer, Dave and Tim Bing and Jim Martin. They will be admirably supported by fellow Americans Adam Hurt and Beth Hartness. Holding up the UK honours will be the Down Trodden String Band and the Kitty Hawks. Dancers will have the pleasure of Kerry Fletcher's tuition and Kerry will be supported by fiddler Tim Brooks.

All that and more....

As usual we are looking for people prepared to give up about 4 hours of their time to act as stewards (mainly on the site gate) in exchange for a half price ticket. If you are interested in that deal pleas contact Sara Marshall who is co-ordinating that side of things. Email her

Once more an urgent reminder from John & Moira Wirtz of Sore Fingers:

We have booked the very talented Thomas Bailey for Old Time Fiddle and Brett Ratliff for Old Time Banjo for our Easter courses 2008.  We only have three people booked on each of these courses at present and we need at least ten more on each course to make it viable.  If you are intending to come, could you please send your booking as soon as possible as I need to commit to booking their flights and at present are in a position where it is not viable to run these courses with US tutors.

All details are on the website at www.sorefingers.co.uk and you can download a booking form from there too.  If you have any questions, please call 01373 813590 or email

Details of all the tutors etc. can be found further on...
