Chairman Ray's Recommended Sites
The following is a set of links to internet sites where you can hear Old Time music, live and recorded. They're all great for listening to while you're writing your novel or playing Solitaire.

Kennedy Centre Millenium Stage, Washington
The numbered links are a series of free concerts preserved on video. The newer ones may require broadband, but the older ones (Molsky, Krack) don't.

New Ballard's Branch Bogtrotters of Galax, Virginia
Eddie Bonds - Fiddle, Dennis Hall - guitar, Dallas Hall - mandolin, Wayne (Peco) Watson - banjo, Jesse Morris - Bass

Bruce Molsky - Fiddle, Banjo, Guitar

Jake Krack (age 15) - Fiddle. A wonderful young fiddler taught by Melvin Wine.

Ken Waldman & Doug Van Gundy - poetry and tunes from West Virginia.

Mike Seeger - the man!

Archives of The Secret Museum of the Air
Pat Conte and 'Citizen Kafka' of New York used to put out a series of programs, roughly an hour long, based on Pat's extensive collection of old 78s. Many of them are Old Time music, old blues or old Gospel - nearly all are worth listening to. These have been archived at above link.

Sugar In The Gourd.
This is a continuous 16 hour selection of Old Time tracks maintained by banjo player John Salmon of Philadelphia, via the Live365 website, but obtainable direct on above link

The Honking Duck
J.G. Reidy has prepared a website containing over 700 tracks copied from a collection of Old Time 78s once owned by banjo expert Jim Bollman, who sold them to buy banjos (I expect).

Spud Mountain RFD
Jim Martin of Portland Oregon regularly updates a half hour program of tracks usually connected by differing criteria. It's fun trying to work out what the connection is. You can get on his mailing list, then he'll let you know when it's been updated. Mostly Old Time, with occasional other interesting stuff.

Berea College, Kentucky
A collection of recordings from the 70s and 80s of Old Time fiddler Hiram Stamper (Art's dad).

Henry Reed - Fiddle Tunes Of The Old Frontier
These are all the recordings made by Alan Jabbour of fiddler Henry Reed, of Glen Lyn, Virginia, which inspired much of the current Old Time activity.
